Blocking ads and trackers
The ads and tracking scripts on a page are usually loaded from other addresses. When the filter is on, SoVPN refuses requests to known ad and tracker addresses, and that content never reaches your device.
Pages load with less clutter, and fewer companies can follow you from site to site. Since nothing depends on a browser extension, the filter works inside apps too.
Blocking known bad sites
The second filter refuses connections to addresses listed for phishing or malware. If you tap a fake delivery notice link in a text message, the page does not open.
No list catches every bad site, and new ones appear daily. Treat this as one more layer, and keep your system and apps updated.
If a site stops working
Now and then a site depends on a script that looks like a tracker. A checkout button or login box may stop responding. Turn the ad and tracker filter off, reload, and check again.
If that fixes it, keep the filter off while you use the site and turn it on afterward. The bad site filter rarely causes this, so it can stay on.
Turning the filters on
Plus and Pro include both filters, each with its own switch. Use one or both.
They only work while SoVPN is connected. Apps you excluded with split tunneling are not filtered.
- Open Settings > Protection in the SoVPN app
- Turn on Ad and tracker blocking, Malicious site blocking, or both
- Reconnect if you were already connected
