From install to connected
- 1Add funds with crypto and use the balance to buy a VPN plan.
- 2In your dashboard, open Downloads and click the Windows download.
- 3Run the file you saved. When Windows asks about a new network adapter, allow it.
- 4Open SoVPN and paste your account token (the sox_ code you saved at sign-up).
- 5Choose a country. Expand it if you want a particular city.
- 6Click Connect and wait for the status to read Connected.
Where things are
The server list is sorted by region. Type a country name in the search box to jump straight to it. Protocol choice lives under Settings: WireGuard, OpenVPN (UDP or TCP) and IKEv2. The kill switch and split tunneling switches are on the same page.
On Plus or Pro you will also see switches for blocking ads and trackers, blocking malicious sites, and Double VPN. Pro accounts have their dedicated IP shown at the top, separate from the shared servers.
Settings we suggest
Leave the protocol on WireGuard unless a network stops it. Some hotel and office networks do. When that happens, OpenVPN TCP usually gets through, since it looks a lot like normal HTTPS traffic.
Turn the kill switch on before you use public Wi-Fi at a cafe or airport. A few apps work better on your normal connection: banking security plugins, a printer at home, or a game launcher that refuses VPN IPs. Add those to split tunneling and keep the rest in the tunnel.
Fixing common problems
Status says Connected but pages will not open. In most cases another VPN client or a separate firewall is holding the network adapter. Quit the other VPN, switch protocol and test again. Reinstall only if that does not help.
A message about too many devices means every slot on your plan is taken. End a session you are not using. If you just closed SoVPN on another PC, the old session is released within a few minutes.
